Adrija is a Research Fellow at Vidhi. She is the Content Lead at Nyaaya. She graduated from NALSAR University of Law, Hyderabad with a B.A.L.L.B(Hons) in 2016. Subsequently, she worked at Khaitan & Co., Mumbai in capital markets, securities, corporate, competition and litigation practices for a year. She is presently overlooking the content of the Nyaaya website and is involved in generating content on a scale.
Aishwarya is a Research Fellow in the Corporate Law and Financial Regulation vertical. At Vidhi, she is working on the Insolvency and Bankruptcy Regulations and cross-border Insolvency laws. Aishwarya graduated with a B.A. LL.B (Hons.) from Jindal Global Law School (JGLS) in 2017. During her time there she has worked on two human rights reports and attended specialised courses in Advanced Corporate Law and Competition Law. She has also interned under Senior Advocate Ramji Srinivasan, in Avantha Holdings Ltd. and in law firms like Phoenix Legal, and PSA Legal.
Akriti is a Senior Research Fellow in the Public Law vertical. She graduated with a Bachelor in Policy Science LL.B (Hons.) from National Law University, Jodhpur in 2015. Prior to joining Vidhi, she interned at the Planning Commission of India where she assisted the High Level Committee on Infrastructure Finance; the National Human Rights Commission and Chambers of Mr. Soli J. Sorabjee. She has also led student policy research groups in making recommendations to the Parliamentary Standing Committee and concerned ministries on Insurance laws and the Road Transport and Safety law. Her main areas of research at law school were in the field of corporate law, food law, arbitration and constitutional law.
Akshat is a Research Fellow at Vidhi and works with the Public Law vertical. He graduated with a B.A.,LL.B (Hons) from National Law School of India University, Bangalore in 2017. He has previously worked as an Associate at Khaitan & Co., in Mumbai in their general litigation and security and regulatory practices. He served as the Chief Editor of the National Law School of India Review and has previously interned with law firms such as AZB & Partners, Shardul Amarchand Mangaldas & Co, and was also part of Unilever's leadership internship programme. His areas of interest include regulation and public law, family law and legal history.
Alakto Majumdar is the Chief Financial Officer at Vidhi. He started his professional career with Lovelock & Lewes, Chartered Accountants, part of Coopers and Lybrand in February 1993. After a short stint, he moved to ABP group, the media powerhouse from Kolkata and worked there for 12 years. In 2005, he joined HT Media and relocated to Delhi. In 2008, he began his entrepreneurial journey. During this 24 years, Mr Majumdar has worked in the fields of Strategic and Financial Planning, Taxation, Compliance & Control, Transfer Pricing and Valuation. Mr. Majumder regularly conducts GST training sessions and appeared on different TV channels to discuss GST.
Ameen is a Senior Resident Fellow at Vidhi, and is leading advocacy for the JALDI mission, which is a collaboration between Vidhi and Tata Trust. His work at Vidhi deals with judicial reforms and access to justice issues in India. In 2016, he co-authored a White Paper for the Department of Justice (Indian government) on strengthening mediation frameworks in India.
He recently completed his graduate studies from the Institute of Education (University College London), focusing on the use of evidence in policy processes, and was awarded an MSc. with an overall distinction. Before this, he completed his undergraduate legal studies from the W.B. National University of Juridical Sciences [B.A. LL.B. (Hons.)], in 2012.
Prior to Vidhi, Ameen worked at J. Sagar Associates, in the firm's regulatory and policy team. He has practised in the Supreme Court of India, the Delhi High Court, and numerous tribunals.
Amit Chindaliya is working as an Office Assistant at Vidhi. Prior to Vidhi, he worked as an office assistant in the Delhi Railway Services.
Archana is Lead of Nyaaya Project and works remotely with the team in Vidhi, Delhi. She graduated with an Arts degree in Media and Communication from the University of Melbourne and a Masters degree in Interactive Telecommunications from Tisch, NYU. She has worked as as a software engineer in New York at Gilt, Edelman and Capital One bank over the last five years."
Archana is presently working as the Account Executive in the Finance Department, Vidhi Common Service Group. At Vidhi, she has worked in areas concerning general accounting, HR Docs, payroll processing, cash flow, reimbursements of retainers' expenses, MOU update, Grants update, among others. She is a graduate in Bachelor of Commerce (B.Com) from the University of Delhi in 2013 and is currently pursuing Masters of Commerce (M.Com) from IGNOU. Her previous experience includes general accounting, TDS, Income Tax, and banking-related work.
Arghya is the Founder and Research Director at Vidhi. He is an alumnus of National Law School of India University Bangalore and the University of Oxford where he was a Rhodes Scholar. While, at Oxford, he completed his D.Phil. on Independence and Accountability of the Indian Higher Judiciary and was a Lecturer in Administrative Law. His areas of specialisation are constitutional and administrative law. He has a number of academic publications on the Supreme Court, Parliament, fundamental rights and federalism and writes regularly for The Hindu, The Times of India and the Economic and Political Weekly.
Bhavya is presently handling the accounting profile, Vidhi Common Service Group. His role includes statutory compliances, budgeting, and MIS reports. At Vidhi, he has handled statutory returns, the statutory reports of utilisation certificates, cost center, and investment tracking. Before joining Vidhi, Bhavya has graduated in Bachelor of Commerce (B.Com) from the University of Delhi in 2014, and completed the CA (IPCC) accounting technician course. He has headed a team for statutory audit of Delhi University (Shaheed Bhagat Singh College) for two consecutive years. Bhavya's other project engagements include finalisation of a balance sheet, Income tax, Service tax, Sales Tax, TDS, Due Diligence reports, and internal audit of numerous entities. He is currently pursuing Master of Commerce (M.Com) and is well versed with statutory return (vat, service tax, TDS and income tax) and Tax Audit 3ca, 3cd.
Charvi is presently handling all the HR related work at Vidhi. Prior to this, she completed her masters’ in Development and Labour Studies from Jawaharlal Nehru University (2017) and a bachelors’ degree in Economics from Hindu College, Delhi University (2015). She has interned at NITI Aayog, where she presented a research paper on Public-Private Partnerships in the Skill Development Sector. Additionally, she has worked with Centre for Policy Research and Capital Goods Sector Skill Council in the field of Public Health and Skill Development respectively.
Damini is a Senior Resident Fellow and Team Lead in the Public Law vertical and is currently involved in projects pertaining to regulation of digital economy and implementation of the Insolvency and Bankruptcy Code. Prior to joining Vidhi, Damini worked at Shardul Amarchand Mangaldas & Co and thereafter at Tuli & Co where she focused extensively on insurance regulatory advisory (non-contentious), product development and general corporate matters. Damini has also undertaken policy work and advised on several other regulatory issues arising under the foreign contribution laws, labelling rules of packaged commodities and laws governing drugs and cosmetics in India. She has also worked as a legal consultant to the Central Information Commission and advised on various issues arising under the Right to Information Act. Damini graduated from the National University of Juridical Sciences, Kolkata in 2008 with a B.A., LL.B. (Hons.) and completed her LL.M. from the University of Pennsylvania Law School in 2013 where she concentrated on regulatory laws and policy.
Debadityo is a Senior Resident Fellow in Vidhi Aid. At Vidhi, he is working on air pollution regulations and environmental clearance process in India. He graduated in 2009 with a B.Sc. (Hons.) in Zoology from the University of Delhi, and thereafter in 2012, completed M.Sc. (Tech.) in Environmental Science and Technology from Banaras Hindu University. Before joining Vidhi, Debadityo has worked with the Legal Initiative for Forest and Environment as Program Officer and has also done independent projects on environment and wildlife protection in collaboration with WWF-India and Environment Equity and Justice Partnership. He is founder and trustee of Vindhyan Ecology and Natural History Foundation, Board Member of EKOenergy network and is a recipient of Duleep Matthai Nature Conservation Fellowship.
Debanshu is part of the founding team at Vidhi and leads its Corporate Law and Financial Regulation vertical. He graduated from the Hidayatullah National Law University and completed his graduate studies at Harvard University and the University of Oxford. He attended Harvard Law School as a Fulbright- Nehru Fellow where he was awarded the Irving Oberman Memorial Writing Prize in Bankruptcy and the Dean's Scholar Prize in Corporations. He has advised the Ministry of Finance, the Ministry of Corporate Affairs, the RBI and the IBBI on projects relating to bankruptcy, corporate law, and financial regulation. He was previously a lawyer with AZB & Partners.
Dhvani is a Senior Resident Fellow in Vidhi Aid. She has supervised research projects on the functioning of the National Green Tribunal, on grievance redressal mechanisms at public health establishments, and on the withdrawal of medical treatment from terminally-ill patients. She has assisted the Indian Council of Medical Research with regulatory reform on clinical trials and has provided legal research and drafting assistance to the Ranjit Roy Chaudhury Expert Committee constituted to suggest reforms to the Medical Council of India. Dhvani has a D.Phil in Law from Magdalen College, University of Oxford. Her doctorate explores the idea of an environmental rule of law in the Indian context and analyses the role of the legislature, executive and judiciary in strengthening or weakening it. Dhvani also has an M.Phil and BCL from Oxford and a B.L.S; LL.B from Government Law College, University of Mumbai.
Diksha is a Research Fellow at Vidhi and is engaged with the Justice, Access, and Lowering Delays in India (JALDI) Project. She graduated from NUJS in 2016 and thereafter worked as a litigator and researcher at the Centre for Law and Policy Research, Bangalore. At Bangalore she was involved in constitutional litigation and lawyering in the public interest on issues pertaining to disability rights, the right to education and health, among others. She is interested in feminist and queer jurisprudence, adjudication of socio-economic rights and constitutional theory.
Jit S. Banerjee
Jit is the Manager - Development and Partnerships at Vidhi. He is responsible for coordinating the organization’s efforts to mobilize institutional and program funds to help meet Vidhi’s goals and priorities. This involves building partnerships and strategic engagement with grant giving foundations/institutions, private foundations, government agencies, as well as HNI and select corporates. Jit has a Master in Public Policy from the University of New Hampshire, where he was on a Tara and J. Morgan Rutman Scholarship, and a B.A. (Hons.) in English from Hindu College, University of Delhi. Previously, Jit has been a fellow of the U.S. National Science Foundation’s Innovation Corps Program, the Boston chapter of the Startup Leadership Program and Ashoka University’s Young India Fellowship Program.
Kailash Chandra Pant
Kailash Chandra Pant is working as an Office Assistant at Vidhi. Prior to Vidhi, Kailash was working as a pantry assistant at Central Administrative Tribunal.
Kevin is a Research Fellow at Vidhi and works with the Public Law vertical. He graduated with a B.A.LL.B. (Hons.) from Hidayatullah National Law University, Raipur in 2018. He has previously interned with Vidhi, and primarily worked on Right to Privacy under the Constitution. He has also interned with Brookings India where he researched on Bilateral Investment Treaties and trade facilitation, with Centre for Civil Society where he co-authored the ‘Compendium of Laws to be Repealed in Chhattisgarh’, with law firms including AZB & Partners and Cyril Amarchand Mangaldas, and in the Chambers of Mr. Shreehari Aney, the Advocate General of Maharashtra.
Malavika is a Research Fellow with Nyaaya. She will be graduating with a B.B.A.LLB degree from Symbiosis Law School, Noida. She has previously interned with Vidhi and organizations such as the Centre for WTO Studies, Indian Institute of Foreign Trade and Chambers of Indira Jaising working on research related to Human Rights Law, Data Protection laws and Refugee Laws. She is also the Vice-Chair for Research and Development at the Indian National Bar Association and had worked with the National Research and Policy Team of IDIA. She was an avid mooter in college and has done research in the areas of Public International Law and Environmental Laws.
Mustafa is a Content Writer at Nyaaya. He is presently working on simplifying laws for the Nyaaya website. He graduated from NALSAR, Hyderabad with a BA.LLB in 2013. He was previously practising at the Jammu and Kashmir High Court and prior to that he worked as the Research Officer at the Center for Good Governance in Hyderabad.
Lalit is a Research Fellow in the Public Law vertical. He is involved in the development of a data protection framework in India apart from other short-term assignments in public law. Lalit graduated with a B.A. LL.B. (Hons.) from Gujarat National Law University in 2016. Prior to joining Vidhi, he worked as a consultant with the 21st Law Commission of India (2016-2017), assisting with reports on food adulteration and the regulation of the legal profession. He previously interned with Supreme Court judge TS Thakur, J., Senior advocate KK Venugopal and firms such as Kachwaha & Partners. His areas of interest include Law & Economics, Constitutional Law, Alternative Dispute Resolution and ethical philosophy.
Namrata is a Research Fellow in the Vidhi Aidl. She graduated from the National University of Juridical Sciences (NUJS) with a B.A. LL.B. (Hons.) in 2016. At NUJS her areas of engagement included human rights, labour law, inter-disciplinary research, gender, sexuality and the law, and philosophy. Prior to joining Vidhi, she interned with advocates as well as in organisations such as the Alternative Law Forum and Centre for Equity Studies.
Param is a Research Fellow in the Corporate Law and Financial Regulation vertical. Prior to joining Vidhi, he worked in the General Corporate team at Cyril Amarchand Mangaldas, Mumbai (CAM), a leading law firm. His areas of interest include banking and corporate governance. He graduated with a B.Com. (LL.B.) (Hons.) from the Gujarat National Law University, Gandhinagar in 2015.
Prashant Reddy T.
Prashant Reddy T. graduated from the National Law School of India University in 2008 with a BA.LLB(Hons.) degree. He also earned a LLM in Law, Science & Technology from Stanford Law School in 2013. He began his career practicing law with the intellectual property (IP) litigation practices of two leading law firms in Delhi. He subsequently joined academia as a research associate at the Applied Research Centre for Intellectual Assets & the Law (ARCIALA) at the School of Law, Singapore Management University. Prior to joining Vidhi Centre for Legal Policy, Prashant was an assistant professor at the National Academy of Legal Studies and Research (NALSAR), Hyderabad, where he taught administrative law and IP law. He is also the co-author of Create, Copy, Disrupt: India's Intellectual Property Dilemmas published by Oxford University Press in 2017. At Vidhi, Prashant leads the vertical on judicial reforms.
Prianka is a Senior Resident Fellow with the Vidhi Aid initiative. She is currently engaged in strategic litigation and policy interventions for the implementation of the Right to Education Act, 2009, anti tobacco laws and regulations, and independent research on the regulatory regime to address air pollution. Prianka has a mix of litigation and policy research experience. Prior to joining Vidhi, she practiced law as an Advocate in the Supreme Court. She has also worked as a Senior Analyst with PRS Legislative Research, where she tracked ministries such as Law and Justice, Personnel and Public Grievances, Social Justice and Empowerment, and Labour. She has published analyses on a diverse range of Bills introduced in Parliament and provided research support to Members of Parliament. Prianka has a B.A. LLB (Hons.) from the National University of Juridical Sciences, Kolkata. She is interested in the functioning of Parliament as an institution, and strategic engagement with the courts for policy intervention
Rav P. Singh
Rav is a Senior Resident Fellow and Team Lead in the Tax Law vertical. He graduated in law from Panjab University, Chandigarh in 2009 and completed his Masters in Law (Business Laws) from National Law School of India University, Bangalore in 2011. He subsequently worked for 1 year with Tuli & Co. In 2017, he submitted his PhD thesis in Tax and Investment Law at the University of Cambridge. He is currently advising the Ministry of Finance and the Ministry of Home Affair.
Rahul Malik is the Senior Manager and leads the front function at Vidhi. He is responsible for the entire gamut of people-oriented processes. Rahul’s experience spans across a wide range of expertise in client management and operations delivery. He also has extensive hands-on experience in heading diverse HR initiatives – these include policy design, managing administration, training and recruitment in various industries.
Raju is working as an Office Assistant at Vidhi. Prior to Vidhi, Raju worked in German Embassy as a pantry and housekeeping assistant.
Reshma is a Research Fellow at Vidhi and is part of the Justice, Access and Lowering Delays in India (JALDI) Project. She graduated from the National University of Advanced Legal Studies (NUALS), Cochin in 2015. Prior to joining Vidhi, she was with the Legal and Compliance team of Wipro Limited in Bangalore where she worked on employment law, data protection, regulatory compliance and export control laws. Her areas of interest include human rights, international humanitarian law and data privacy.
Shehnaz is a Senior Resident Fellow in the Corporate Law and Financial Regulation vertical. She graduated with a B.A.LL.B. (Hons.) from Dr. RML National Law University in 2011. Prior to joining Vidhi, she worked as a Partner at Zeta Law Chambers, Noida. She has also previously worked as an associate with J. Sagar Associates, New Delhi and the Financial and Regulatory practice team at Amarchand & Mangaldas & Sures A. Shroff. A & Co, Mumbai, wherein she worked on mergers and acquisitions in the financial sector and was also actively involved in advising some of the leading ‘payment systems’.
Shreya is a Research Fellow in the Corporate Law and Financial Regulation vertical. She is an alumna of National Law School of India University, Bangalore and the University of Oxford where she read for the BCL as the Zaiwalla scholar at the Oxford India Centre for Sustainable Development. At Vidhi, she has advised the Insolvency and Bankruptcy Board of India and the Ministry of Corporate Affairs on the implementation of the Insolvency and Bankruptcy Code, 2016 and the design of the subordinate legislation under it. She has also worked on law and policy issues pertaining to debt markets, companies law, fiscal management and commercial remedies.
Shreya is a Research Fellow at Vidhi engaged with the Justice, Access, and Lowering Delays in India (JALDI) Project. She graduated with B.B.A.LL.B. from National Law University, Odisha in 2018. During her time there she worked as a member of various organizing committees including TEDxNLUO and also worked as the head of the cultural committee of the college. She has developed an interest in Human Rights over the years and most of her internships have been focused in that area. She has previously interned at organizations like Nyaaya, CHRI, SAHRDC and PLD.
Shreya is a Research Fellow with Vidhi Aid. She graduated with a B.A.LL.B. (Hons.) from Hidayatullah National Law University, Raipur in 2018. She has previously interned with Vidhi and worked on the Action Plan for curbing Air Pollution in Delhi, Computation of damages by NGT and Inclusive Education. She has also interned at Centre for Policy Research with the Land Rights Initiative; with Centre for Communication Governance, where she focused her research on the Legal & Policy Framework for Artificial Intelligence in India; with Supreme Court Commissioner’s Office in the Right to Food Case; in Chambers of Mr. Prashant Bhushan, Supreme Court of India and law firms like Karanjawala & Co and Samvaad Partners. She has also worked with Centre for Civil Society, where she co-authored the ‘Compendium of laws to be repealed in Chhattisgarh’.
Shyamal Mukherjee is the Chief Administrative Officer. He looks after all administrative work at Vidhi. Shyamal completed his graduation in B.A (Hons) Economics from the University of Delhi. Before joining Vidhi, he worked in ABP (P) Ltd in the capacity of Circulation Manager as well as Chief Manager Administration for 36 years. After his retirement, Shyamal joined the PA/PS to Dr Ashok S Ganguly - Member of Parliament, Rajya Sabha (2012-2015).
Shonottra Kumar is a legal researcher at Nyaaya. She carries out research on laws and processes and assists content writers in simplifying laws for the Nyaaya website. Shonottra graduated with an LL.B. degree from the University of Mumbai in 2015. Thereafter, she worked as a litigation counsel for a year, mainly dealing with labour and other civil laws. She completed her LL.M. in International and Comparative Laws from Trinity College, Dublin in 2017.
Sohini is a Research Fellow at the Public Law vertical. She graduated with a BA LLB (Hons.) from the National University of Juridical Sciences, Kolkata in 2016, having received university prizes in constitutional law, media law and administrative law. Subsequently, she completed her LLM in Public Law at the London School of Economics in 2017 on the Sabine scholarship and LSE Master's Award. Previously, she has served as Editor of the NUJS Law Review, and interned under Senior Advocate Raju Ramachandran and Retd. Justice Anil Dave at the Supreme Court. Her interest lies in regulation and public law, along with inter-disciplinary approaches of law and economics and socio-legal theory.
Sumathi is an Associate Fellow in the Judicial Reform vertical. She works at the intersect of law and policy, and has undertaken projects for various bodies, including the Ministries of Law & Justice; Finance; Petroleum & Natural Gas; the Unique Identity Authority of India (Aadhaar); and the United Nations Development Programme. She was a core member of the research team to the Financial Sector Legislative Reforms Commission (2011-2013), and has also been a consultant to the Twentieth Law Commission of India (2015). She has also co-authored Create, Copy, Disrupt: India's Intellectual Property Dilemmas (OUP, 2017). Sumathi graduated in English literature from Lady Shri Ram College for Women, and in law from the Faculty of Law, University of Delhi. She also has a double masters' degree in public policy and public affairs from the National University of Singapore and Sciences PO Paris.
Sumeysh is the Outreach Lead for the Nyaaya website. He completed his BA.LLB (Hons.) from Symbiosis Law School, Pune in 2013. Subsequently, he went on to pursue an LLM, specializing in Human Rights from the same institute and successfully completed the same in 2014. Before joining Vidhi, he was working as CEO of Nyayika, a non-profit start-up offering affordable legal services through law centers in Gujarat. He has also worked as a legal researcher in the Centre for Social Justice, Ahmedabad, focusing mainly on grassroots issues and providing research and operational support to field law centers. His main areas of research were on themes of minority welfare, fishermen rights and violence against women. He is interested in understanding how the law influences the relationship between the state and marginalized communities.
Sunetra is a Research Fellow in the Public Law vertical. Her current projects at Vidhi include reforms in the area of Digital Economy, Privacy law and Data Protection. Sunetra graduated with B.A, LL. B (Hons) from NALSAR University of Law, Hyderabad in 2012. Subsequently, she worked at AZB& Partners, Bangalore for two years, where her work primarily involved general corporate matters, employment law and litigation. Thereafter, she obtained her LL.M in Intellectual Property Law from George Washington University, Washington D.C. in 2015.
Tarika is a Research Fellow at Vidhi and is a part of the Justice, Access and Lowering Delays in India (JALDI) Project. She graduated from Gujarat National Law University with B.A. LL.B. (Hons.) in 2017. Prior to joining Vidhi, she was working for Gujarat State Petronet Limited, a state Public Sector Undertaking in the oil and gas sector where she was involved in various litigation and arbitration matters for the company. She has previously interned with the Law Commission of India and Hon'ble Justice N.V. Ramana at the Supreme Court.
Ulka is a Research Fellow in the Corporate Law and Financial Regulation vertical. She is presently working on the implementation of the personal insolvency aspects of the Insolvency and Bankruptcy Code, 2016 and allied issues. Prior to joining Vidhi, she worked with the Litigation and Dispute Resolution Practice at the Calcutta offices of Khaitan & Co, a leading Indian Law Firm, in the course of which she worked on diverse commercial disputes, and appeared before various fora including the High Court at Calcutta. Ulka graduated in 2016 with a B.A. LL.B. (Hons.) degree from the West Bengal National University of Juridical Sciences, Kolkata, at the top of her class. Her academic interests broadly lie in the field of financial regulation, law and finance, and the law and economics of financial regulation.
Vagda is an Associate Fellow in the Public Law Vertical and is currently working on a project pertaining to the Rationale of Sentencing in Indian Criminal Law. She graduated with a B.A., LL.B (Hons.) from NALSAR, University of Law, Hyderabad in 2013. Subsequently, she worked with Pathak and Associates, New Delhi. Prior to joining Vidhi, she litigated at the Chambers of Amit Anand Tiwari, Advocate-on-Record, Supreme Court of India where she assisted and appeared in a wide range of constitutional and civil matters.
Vaidehi is a Research Fellow at the Judicial Review vertical. She graduated with a B.A.LLb (Hons.) from Jindal Global Law School (JGLS) in 2015. For the following two years, she worked in the chambers of Mr. Gaurab Banerji, Senior Advocate at the Supreme Court of India, assisting in landmark cases in the field of commercial law, arbitration, competition and constitutional law. She believes in working on issues at the intersection of academia and practice with research interests in public law, law and sociology, administrative and constitutional theory and legal philosophy. In June 2018, she completed her masters from the University of California at Berkeley with a core focus on jurisprudence and social policy. She has been a substantive editor for the Berkeley Journal for Gender Law and Justice and a contributing author for a book titled ‘Leaving No One Behind: Sustainable Development Goals and South - South Cooperation’.
Vedika is a Senior Resident Fellow in the Corporate Law and Financial Regulation vertical. She is currently working on projects pertaining to the Non-Performing Assets crisis confronting the Indian banking industry. Prior to joining Vidhi, she worked in the Chambers of Mr. Dayan Krishnan, Senior Advocate. She has also worked as the Khaitan & Co. Research Fellow for Mergers and Acquisition at Gujarat National Law University and as an associate in the Capital Markets team at Amarchand Mangaldas, Mumbai. Vedika completed her B.A. LL.B. Vidushi is a Research Fellow in the Tax Law vertical. She is currently working on projects regarding the simplification of the Goods and Services Tax and other tax laws in India. Vidushi graduated with a B.A.LL.B.(Hons.) from Dr. RML National Law University, Lucknow in 2014. Prior to joining Vidhi, she was working as an Assistant Manager in the Tax and Regulatory Services division at PwC. During her time there, Vidushi assisted various multinational clients in transitioning their businesses to the Goods and Services Tax regime and provided indirect tax advisory, litigation and compliance services. She has also previously interned at law firms including Lakshmikumaran & Sridharan, Khaitan & Co. and Vaish Associates.
Vinti is a Research Fellow in Tax Law vertical. At Vidhi, she is involved in a project relating to imposition of cess and surcharge, post the introduction of GST. Additionally, she also undertakes assignments relating to Goods and Service Tax and other tax laws in India. She graduated with B.B.A.LL.B. from National Law University, Odisha in 2018 with a Batch Rank 2 out of 120 students. During her time there she served as a member in the Editorial Board for Indian Journal for Tax Law. She is primarily interested in Tax Law and Regulatory Law, in pursuance of which she has garnered accolades in mooting.
Alok Prasanna Kumar is a Senior Resident Fellow and heads the Bengaluru office of the Vidhi Centre for Legal Policy. He obtained his BA LL.B (Hons) degree from the NALSAR University of Law, Hyderabad in 2008 and then obtained his BCL from the University of Oxford. He practiced as an advocate in Delhi between 2009 and 2013 the chambers of Mr Mohan Parasaran who was then Additional Solicitor General and later, Solicitor General of India. As an advocate, he worked in areas of taxation law, constitutional law, administrative law, among other areas. He was part of the founding team of Vidhi in 2013 and led the Judicial Reforms Vertical at Vidhi. He is a columnist for the Economic and Political Weekly and writes regularly for academic journals and other media outlets on the judiciary, and constitutional law and theory.
Akhileshwari Reddy is a Research Fellow at Vidhi, Bangalore. She graduated with a BA LLB (Hons.) from the West Bengal National University of Juridical Sciences (Kolkata) in 2016 and went on to complete her Masters in Human Rights Law at the London School of Economics and Political Science in 2017. She has previously interned at institutions such as Vidhi, PRS and in the Supreme Court of India under Justice Madan B. Lokur. Her main areas of interest lie in the protection and enforcement of Human Rights in India and in International Law.
Deepika Kinhal is a Senior Resident Fellow at Vidhi’s Bengaluru office. She graduated from National Law School of India University, Bengaluru, in 2012. Since then she has worked at Amarchand & Mangaldas & Suresh A. Shroff & Co., Bengaluru, with their Real Estate and Capital Markets teams, and at Dua Associates, Bengaluru, with their Litigation team. Her previous research projects have been on issues concerning domestic workers, transgenders, child marriage and human trafficking. At Vidhi, she is keen to work on areas which resonate with the public and local government in Karnataka, particularly in the fields of urban development, education and judicial reforms.
Divij Joshi is a Research Fellow at Vidhi, Bengaluru. He graduated from the National Law School of India University, Bangalore, in 2016, and subsequently worked in the disputes resolution team of AZB & Partners in Mumbai. He has also worked as an independent consultant and researcher with civil society organizations, and regularly writes on topics of intellectual property rights and the information society. His areas of interest include access to knowledge, innovation and law and technology.
Shashank Atreya is a Research Fellow at Vidhi, Bengaluru. He graduated with a BBA LLB(Hons.) from Christ University(Bengaluru) in 2017. Subsequent to graduation he briefly worked with Chase-India as a Junior Public Policy associate in New Delhi. During his time at Law School he was the Research Assistant to the Committee on Drafting University Statutes for Rajiv Gandhi University of Health Sciences, Karnataka and M.C Naniah Committee,set up by the Karnataka Government, to recommend guidelines for improving the Safety of Women and Children in the State. He has earlier interned with Senior Counsel Shyam Divan, Additional Advocate General Dr Aditya Sondhi and PRS Legislative Research. His research interests are in the areas of Education Law and improving Urban Governance.
