Tanaya Desai

Tanaya Desai is a Research Fellow at the Vidhi Centre for Legal Policy. Prior to joining Vidhi, she worked at Samāna Centre for Gender, Policy & Law, where her work focused on gender and equality, workplace regulation, safeguarding, and diversity and inclusion. She advised organisations on legal and policy frameworks, conducted capacity-building programmes, and worked on the design and implementation of institutional policies and gender assessment frameworks. Before moving into legal policy, Tanaya worked as a corporate lawyer at S&R Associates, Mumbai. Tanaya holds a Bachelor of Civil Law (BCL) from the University of Oxford and a B.A. LL.B. from ILS Law College, Pune, where she graduated first in the university and was awarded the Namdar Gopalkrushna Gokhale Gold Medal. Her research interests include constitutional and administrative law, family law, regulation, equality, gender and social justice, with a particular interest in feminist and socio-legal approaches to law and policy.
