The Vidhi Centre for Legal Policy, the India-Oxford Initiative and the Asian Studies Centre, University of Oxford organised an interdisciplinary symposium on the COVID-19 pandemic titled ‘We’re in This Together: Cross Jurisdictional Learnings for Governance, Policy and Law from Covid-19′.
The aim of the symposium was to bring together experts across disciplines and jurisdictions to facilitate a conversation about learnings from the COVID-19 pandemic and to build a joint foundation to tackle future public health emergencies more effectively.
The symposium was held on March 3 and featured two panel discussions. Watch the first one here.
This panel explored what it takes to address the problem of lack of access to vaccines against the backdrop of the COVID-19 pandemic and public health emergencies in general. It discussed the use of the TRIPS waiver and India’s role in its implementation, as well as what the international human right requires in terms of access to vaccines and treatments.
