The Research Director’s Office (RDO) at Vidhi specialises in providing high-quality legislative drafting and legal research assistance to Ministries, Departments, and Authorities across both the Central and State Governments. With a commitment to advancing the rule of law, the RDO bridges the gap between policy objectives and effective legal frameworks. Through close collaboration with government stakeholders, the RDO ensures that laws and regulations are drafted to be accessible, implementable, equitable, and capable of addressing contemporary challenges.

Alongside its government engagements, the RDO undertakes independent research on pivotal issues shaping India’s legal landscape. Recent projects include a study on reforms to testamentary succession laws, aimed at modernising and simplifying inheritance processes; the drafting of a Model Family Law Code that addresses contemporary societal needs while fostering gender equity; and filed a Writ Petition before the Supreme Court of India challenging the constitutionality of uncontested elections under the Representation of People’s Act, 1951. The RDO aims to tackle complex, cross-sectoral challenges while offering innovative, research-driven solutions that set benchmarks for governance and legal reform. The team not only addresses gaps in the legal system but also anticipates future challenges, ensuring its work remains impactful and forward-looking.
