On Day 2 of our Summit, we organised a discussion on ‘Social Media and the General Elections’. The panelists for the discussion were Mr. Alok Prasanna Kumar, Team Lead at Vidhi Karnataka, Dr. S. Y. Quraishi, former Chief Election Commissioner of India, Mr. Shivnath Thukral, Head of Public Policy at Facebook and Ms. Shruti Kapila, a lecturer at the University of Cambridge. The discussion was moderated by Mr. Rajdeep Sardesai. The experts on the panel analysed a number of issues regarding the use of social media in modern electoral practices and the need for legal reform to curb illegal activities through social media.
