Utkarsh is an Associate Fellow with the Climate and Ecosystems team at Vidhi. He specializes in environmental and administrative laws, and has research interests in deliberative democracy and public consultation. Prior to Vidhi, he was associated with Legal Initiative for Forest and Environment, Delhi, and Appalachian Citizens Law Center, Kentucky, where he focused on public interest environmental litigation and big coal bankruptcy issues, across India and the U.S. As part of this work, Utkarsh has assisted communities facing impacts of flooding, coal, sand and asbestos mining, deforestation, hydel and barrage projects, and unplanned real estate construction. Utkarsh is also a member at Himalayan Advocacy Center, a Dharamshala based public interest environmental law firm focussed on the Hindu Kush Himalayan region. Utkarsh graduated from Jindal Global Law School with a BA.,LL.B (Hons.) degree in 2016 and Cornell University with an LL.M in 2020, and is enrolled as an advocate with the Bar Council of Delhi.
