Early Childhood Care and Education (ECCE) in India is enshrined in the Constitution and mandated under the Right of Children to Free and Compulsory Education (RTE) Act 2009. It examines the concept of ECCE under the Constitution and the RTE Act, and identifies the Ministry that should be given the duty of ECCE implementation. It highlights the renewed aspirations towards ECCE, as reflected in the National Education Policy of 2020.
