Release of the Documentary ‘My Way or The Highway’

Saturday, 12 Dec 2020, 6:00 pm-Saturday, 12 Dec 2020, 7:00 pm

The Vidhi Centre for Legal Policy invites you to the release of our short documentary film- ‘My Way or The Highway’ on December 12 (Saturday) at 6 PM (IST)

My Way or The Highway is a documentary film (15 min.)  which looks into the impact of judicial interventions for protection of wildlife corridors in Kaziranga-Karbi Anglong landscape in Assam. Some of the major interventions by courts include a ban on mining in the Karbi Anglong Hills near the southern boundary of the Kaziranga National Park, ban on any new construction activities on the identified animal corridors as well as demolishment of the boundary wall constructed in Numaligarh which was obstructing the movement of elephants. This film undertakes an on-ground investigation of the extent to which court orders have been implemented, reasons for successes and failures in implementation and the role of activists and various government agencies including the National Tiger Conservation Authority.

Read an accompanying case brief here. Watch the trailer below.

This film is the third of the five short documentaries, produced by Vidhi and Riverbank Studios, on key environmental issues in India under the project ‘Courting the Environment’. Renowned actress and UN Environment Goodwill Ambassador for India, Dia Mirza, has provided a prologue to each of the documentaries. To know more about the project, watch our previous films- Hari Phuljhari (on firecrackers ban in Delhi), An Unequal Fight (on industrial pollution in Patancheru), and our upcoming films Ladenge Jeetenge (on dams in Uttarakhand) and Garbage Matters (on waste management in Delhi), visit the project page here.
