Vidhi held an online screening of ‘Hari Phuljhari’, the first of five short films produced by Vidhi and Riverbank Studios, on key environmental issues in India.

‘Hari Phuljhari’ is a deep dive into the implementation of the Supreme Court’s orders regulating the manufacture and use of firecrackers. This film is one of five documentary films produced by Vidhi on the implementation of environmental judgments of the Supreme Court of India and the National Green Tribunal. Watch the trailer below.

This is the culmination of a year-long research project tracking landmark judgments and orders on a wide range of issues such as the firecrackers ban in Delhi, industrial pollution in Patancheru (Telangana), impact of dams in Uttarakhand, waste management in Delhi and protection of wildlife corridors around Kaziranga National Park (Assam). The documentaries have been produced in association with Riverbank Studios and have a prologue by Dia Mirza, veteran Bollywood actress and UNEP Goodwill Ambassador for India.

The screening took place on the 12th of November, 2020. Guests of honour were:

  • Justice Madan Lokur, Retd. Judge of the Supreme Court of India and judge of the Supreme Court of Fiji
