Internships

Vidhi Bengal is a small team of lawyers working on law and policy issues in West Bengal. We engage with various departments of the West Bengal State Government and undertake independent legal research.

Vidhi Bengal provides internship opportunities to students pursuing graduate and post-graduate courses in recognised law programmes or allied courses in public policy. Internships are offered on a rolling basis throughout the year. Only students who can make themselves physically available in Kolkata may apply. We do not offer remote internships.

Interns at Vidhi Bengal will have the opportunity to:
• Conduct research on cutting-edge issues of law and policy matters impacting West Bengal;
• Assist with drafting legislation and independent reports.

We will not entertain any applications submitted less than two months prior to the start date. For example, if the internship is to begin on 1st December, the internship application must be submitted by the 1st of October. Successful applicants will be notified at least a month before the start of the internship.

Note: Generally, only successful applicants will be notified. Owing to the large volume of applications we may not be able to write personally to everyone who applies informing them of the status of their application.

In addition to filling in the details required in the linked form and providing their resume, applicants are also required to submit a writing sample on any legal or policy issue. The writing sample should not exceed 2,000 words and may be an excerpt from a piece the applicant has previously written.
