Vidhi Tamil Nadu is hosting the 2nd edition of the Rule of Law Annual Lecture. 

Dr. Arvind Subramanian, Economist and former Chief Economic Advisor to the Government of India, will deliver this lecture titled ‘Fiscal Federalism and Sub-Federalism: Who are Perpetrators and Who are Victims?’

Fiscal federalism is especially timely today, with the Tamil Nadu government setting up a high-level committee to review Union–State relations. As debates over contributions to and benefits from the national exchequer intensify ahead of the 2026 state elections, Dr. Subramanian’s insights promise to offer a compelling perspective on the evolving federal landscape.

This lecture series is part of Vidhi Tamil Nadu’s efforts to foster public-facing conversations on pressing legal and policy issues

This event will be held on the 24th of January 2026 at Shamiana, Madras Club, Chennai. We will start at 5:30 PM with high tea, followed by the lecture at 6:00 PM. I hope you are able to join us.
