Common goods are goods that are beneficial, available and accessible to society as a whole. Cities themselves are a common good, essential to the quality of life of the people that inhabit them. For cities to function as a common good, they must be inclusive, ensure political participation from all inhabitants, and celebrate diversity, among other things.

Up the Ante, Mumbai is a conversation series that was started with the main objective of engaging in targeted and detailed discussions on a wide range of topics in the area of urban planning, development, and governance. The intention is to identify law and policy solutions to various challenges facing the city of Mumbai today and nudge all its inhabitants to demand more from their city and their political representatives.

For the sixth episode, we are in conversation with Vaibhavi Maske, a lawyer, and gender justice advocate. Through our conversation, we hope to discuss urban planning, infrastructure, mobility and safety from the perspective of women and gender-diverse and vulnerable groups.
