The Vidhi Centre for Legal Policy is an independent think tank doing legal research and assisting the government in making better laws. Vidhi is committed to producing legal research of the highest standard with the aim of informing public debate and contributing to improved governance. Vidhi works with Ministries of the Government of India and State Governments, as well as other public institutions, providing research and drafting support at various stages of law-making. Vidhi also conducts and freely disseminates independent research in areas of legal reform which it believes is critical to India’s future. Description of position

Vidhi is looking for an Advocacy Officer who will work with Vidhi’s Health team and who will assist in particular with advancing Vidhi’s mission in the areas of end-of-life care and discrimination against persons affected by leprosy.

Responsibilities

1.   Act as project manager for Vidhi’s work in the areas mentioned above. 

2.   Identify, reach out to, engage with, and establish partnerships with all relevant stakeholders in government and civil society that are necessary to achieve Vidhi’s mission.

3.   Create appropriate communication material (social media campaigns, videos, manuals, guides, other IEC material) to create awareness of key issues in these areas of work and to advocate for change.

4.   Facilitate and conduct focus group discussions, roundtables, conferences etc to advance Vidhi’s mission.

5.   Coordinate with beneficiaries, other partner organisations and funders as may be needed.

This role will offer the opportunity of seeing research and policy-making translate into tangible change on the ground. Through this, you will act as a crucial link between Vidhi’s research team and other stakeholders.

Requirements

Essential

·    Bachelor’s degree in law/social sciences/humanities;

·    2 years of demonstrable work experience;

·    Excellent communication and interpersonal skills;

·    Organising skills

·    Ability to take initiative

·    Basic proficiency with design tools (eg video editing, Canva)

Desirable

·    Experience in interacting with government and civil society organisations;

·    Experience in community-organising or organising multi-stakeholder events;

·    Training in qualitative research methods (focus group discussions, surveys, interviews )

Location and Remuneration

1.   Delhi      

2.   This is a full-time position.

3.   The engagement will last for a period of one year, and renewal shall be subject to performance and availability of funds.

4.   Remuneration is competitive, in line with experience and existing structure at Vidhi.
