The Policy Brief on ‘Drug Abuse Among Street Children in Delhi’ studies the extent and nature of drug abuse among street children using Delhi as a case study. It also analyses the government’s responses to the drug menace among street children and identifies limitations of the legal provisions, the infrastructure and the rehabilitation strategies available in Delhi.
Based on a combination of desk based secondary research and qualitative, semi-structured interviews with key informants working in the area of rehabilitation, the study makes a case for restructuring the rehabilitation strategy of the government with clear lines of responsibilities among ministries, regularly collecting data and allocating adequate resources in terms of personnel and funds.
