Appointing High Court Judges – I
In the first of a two parter on the recent functioning of the collegium , Alok Prasanna looks at how long the Union Government takes to make appointments of judges after they have been recommended by the collegium in this Economic and Political Weekly article.
The next part will show how the Union Government has been “picking and choosing” names of judges for appointments in complete violation of the memorandum of procedure.

Alok Prasanna Kumar is Co-Founder and Lead, Vidhi Karnataka. His areas of research include judicial reforms, Constitutional law, urban development, and law and technology.
