Vidhi invites applications for the post of a Research Fellow for its office in New Delhi.
The Vidhi Centre for Legal Policy is an independent think tank doing legal research and assisting government in making better laws. Vidhi is committed to producing legal research of the highest standard with the aim of informing public debate and contributing to improved governance. Vidhi works with Ministries of the Government of India and State Governments, as well as other public institutions, providing research and drafting support at various stages of law-making. Vidhi also conducts and freely disseminates independent research in areas of legal reform which it believes is critical to India’s future.

Vidhi is interested in hiring a Research Fellow who will work under its ‘Vidhi Aid Initiative’. Vidhi Aid is a team that works in the areas of health, environment, and education. The Fellow will be staffed on a project on the implementation of environmental laws in India.
The work will include;
legal research (analysis of judgments, documenting legislative developments and executive action),
coordinating meetings with other stakeholders,
and writing reports.
A key component of the work will involve carrying out ground truthing exercises, which will include travel and field visits to different parts of India.
a Bachelor’s degree in any discipline,
at least 3 years demonstrable experience in the areas of environmental law and policy research in India,
good research and writing skills in English, and
excellent communication skills.
a postgraduate degree in environmental studies/social sciences/public policy will be preferred,
familiarity with environmental legal issues,
knowledge of vernacular language(s),
familiarity with computer and mobile applications,
experience in field work.
This is a full-time position based out of Delhi. The Fellow will be engaged in this position for a duration of one year. Salary will be commensurate with qualifications and experience.
