Vidhi invites applications for the post of Research Fellow and Senior Resident Fellow with a specialisation in taxation law for its office in New Delhi.
The Vidhi Centre for Legal Policy is an independent think tank doing legal research and assisting government in making better laws. Vidhi is committed to producing legal research of the highest standard with the aim of informing public debate and contributing to improved governance. Vidhi works with Ministries of the Government of India and State Governments, as well as other public institutions, providing research and drafting support at various stages of law-making. Vidhi also conducts and freely disseminates independent research in areas of legal reform which it believes is critical to India’s future. Vidhi currently has its main office in New Delhi.
Focus areas for the fellowship
Tax law which will include direct taxation, indirect taxation and allied issues.
Fellows will work as an integral part of Vidhi and will be required to undertake research, analysis and legislative drafting for engaged projects as well as independent projects taken on by Vidhi at its own behest. She/he will be expected to work on engaged projects with governments and commissions by providing research and drafting support at various stages of law-making. The fellow will also work on independent projects on critical legal issues, where she/he will endeavour to propose reforms to existing laws, thereby intending to have a significant impact in the development of such laws. The expected output from the research work will be in the form of research reports and draft legislations and regulations.
A bachelor’s degree in law;
Demonstrable interest in the field of tax law;
Candidates with master’s and doctoral degrees in the above-mentioned disciplines, and/or comparable work experience;
Candidates who have academic publications to their credit in the above-mentioned disciplines.
Hiring is invited at two levels:
Research Fellow: 0-5 years of relevant experience
Senior Resident Fellow: 5+ years of relevant experience
Full time position based in Delhi for a minimum duration of one year. Renewal is subject to mutual agreement between the Research Director and the fellow.
